Painting our spiritual home!

The designs will complement the recent beautiful restoration of our organ and two front alcoves (Mary with Infant Jesus and Christ the King). We plan on completing the remaining stenciling and painting!

Painting is necessary to keep the plaster in good condition. Paint also acts as a moisture barrier and prevents mold. There are some samples of the painting plans at the back of the church.

We have an enormous responsibility to be an open and inclusive community! We plan on making our Church building as accessible as possible to serve the needs of all in our Parish community! We intend to provide a new inside staircase built around the new elevator and an accessible washroom on the lower level. This will allow easy interior access to the OLPH church hall activities and parish community for people unable to manoeuver the stairs and others with challenges such as strollers.
“...that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord.”

Our plans include new ways to spiritually nurture our children through the launching an exciting new program.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

We plan to implement a wonderful Children’s Ministry formation program for children ages 2-7. This program is grounded in the Bible, the Liturgy and the educational principles of well-known educator Maria Montessori. The resources and materials have been created and designed for vibrant learning. OLPH embraces The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program’s foundational elements of God’s loving presence in a child’s life, while fostering religious growth and formation.

We will also be providing the opportunity for parishioners to be trained in this inspiring new program.

Youth Ministry
We envision engaging our parishioners for leading our young people in faith.

Today’s youth are often on a quest... Sometimes sought in sports, friends or the people they date. We want to inspire our OLPH Youth to seek fulfillment and happiness in a relationship with God. Therefore, our Youth Ministry plans are centered on helping and inspiring our youth in their quest for God. We realize the importance of developing their spiritual life through life’s changes and challenges.

We intend to put resources toward hiring a part time Youth Minister with the proper skills to provide interesting faith forming activities on their journey. As well as guiding faith formation through the powerful witness of serving together with kindness and mutual respect by co-ordinating activities and opportunities aimed at youth.

Ambassadors are critical to the success of our Family of Faith Campaign!

  • Ambassadors are the visiting disciples of our campaign;
  • Visit fellow parishioners face to face: in many ways: back of the church after service, small groups, in homes, in coffee shops;
  • Communicate our needs;
  • Explain why we’re asking for support and have embarked on a campaign;
  • Answer questions about the Case and the church’s plans;
  • Communicate on behalf of parishioners to the campaign leadership or pastor if necessary;
  • Ask the parishioners to ‘prayerfully consider their gift’ and review the “Gift Guideline”;
  • Follow-up the visit with phone calls or personal face-to-face discussions if needed.
  • Keep in mind that you will be trained and you will never be asking parishioners for money. You will be informing parishioners of the plans and vision of the parish.
  • Your 3 - 5 visits will take approximately 1 – 2 weeks to complete and visits are generally 15 - 30 minutes long. Everyone you visit is a parishioner of our parish.

    Training sessions will be held on Sunday January 25 at 12pm – 2pm everyone needs to be trained in order to visit, as well as sign a confidentiality agreement. Please contact Anthony or Ann Liscio at 416 924 4465 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for any questions. Please join us!!

Family of Faith Capital Campaign - Launched Oct. 19, 2014

OLPH has engaged M & M International (www.mminternational.ca), a professional fundraising company to conduct a Planning Feasibility Study over the next few weeks. This study will gain insight from a cross-section of the parish on the current capital and ministry expenses facing the parish through face-to-face interviews.

For this purpose, Open Forums were held after all masses on the June 1st weekend to discuss and receive feedback on these plans from all interested parishioners. It was conducted by Ms. Martha Asselin of M & M International who provided copies of various documents and drawings of the proposals in this new Section "Parish Capital Campaign" - www.olphtoronto.com/Parish_Capital_Campaign/index.php

Conservation

We have an enormous desire and responsibility to be good stewards of our environment! We care about the interior of our spiritual home as well as our impact on the world around us!
The insulation in our roof is over 90 years old! We have areas on the ceiling that appear stained where insulation has fallen. Hence, we now have areas that no longer have any insulation which is causing us to lose heat. We plan to insulate our church roof. This will significantly lessen our impact on the environment as well as reduce our heating costs! This project must be completed prior to painting!
